# [Bug] Child Account Travel Profile Fails to Save Changes and Sync Shared Interests #1155

Summary

In SpikerSoft Parent Dashboard, the Child Account → Travel Profile section does not correctly save updates. Changes to visited locations and wishlist destinations are not recorded, and shared travel interests between parent and child accounts fail to synchronize.

Issue Description

When editing the travel profile of a child account linked to a parent, the system allows map interactions and region selection but fails to persist the data. After saving, the selected regions revert to their previous state, and the parent account does not reflect the child’s travel interests or wishlist updates. This breaks the intended synchronization between linked accounts.

Environment

Property Value
Application SpikerSoft Parent Dashboard
Module Child Account → Travel Profile
Environment Production
Browser Firefox / Chrome
Operating System Windows 11
Version v2026.09.28d
Device Desktop

Preconditions

A child account must be linked to a parent account.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Log in as a parent and access the linked child account.
  2. Navigate to Travel Profile.
  3. Select or modify regions on the map (e.g., mark as visited or wishlist).
  4. Click Guardar perfil de viaje.
  5. Refresh or reopen the page.
  6. Observe that changes are not saved and shared interests are not updated.

Expected Result

  • The system should save all travel profile changes for the child account.
  • Shared travel interests between parent and child should synchronize automatically.
  • The map should reflect updated regions after saving.

Actual Result

  • Changes are not saved; map selections revert to default.
  • Shared interests between parent and child accounts remain unsynchronized.
  • No error message or feedback is displayed.

Evidence

  • Screenshots show the Travel Profile before and after attempted updates, with regions marked but not retained after saving.

Impact

  • Prevents accurate tracking of child travel preferences.
  • Breaks synchronization between parent and child accounts.
  • Reduces functionality and reliability of the travel management feature.

Frequency

Always

Reproducibility

100%

Severity

High

Suggested Fix

  • Ensure proper data persistence for child account travel profile updates.
  • Implement synchronization logic between parent and child accounts for shared interests.
  • Add visual confirmation or success message upon saving changes.
  • Validate backend linkage between travel profile and account relationship models.

Root cause found. Fix in spikerj/spikersoft-angular#1398.

What's happening: on Profile → Travel, the map saves each click immediately. But Guardar perfil de viaje sends a copy of the visited/wishlist lists taken when the page loaded. Clicking Save overwrote every map change made since then, and the map redrew from that old copy. That's why regions "revert" with no error. It affects every account, not just child accounts. Map clicks alone (without pressing Save) were persisting.

Reproduction note: there's no screen where a parent edits a child's travel map. The parent dashboard only edits health and insurance info. This reproduces when signed in as the child (or any user) on /profile → Travel.

"Shared interests should sync between parent and child": this isn't an existing feature, so nothing is broken there. The family card combines family members' wishlists for display only. Automatic parent↔child wishlist syncing would be a new feature request; it's not part of this fix.

Not related to spikerj/spikersoft-backend#1121. The backend replaces the travel data whole, so the reference-comparer issue doesn't apply.

Closing: the root cause is fixed in spikerj/spikersoft-angular#1398 (Travel Save no longer overwrites map changes); it ships when that PR merges. The parent↔child "shared interests sync" part is not an existing feature; file it as a feature request if it is wanted.
