TypeScript 7.0.2 is out: the Go-native compiler (8-12x faster full builds, parallel checking). We're on 6.0.3. It's blocked:
Package
TS peer range
@angular/compiler-cli / @angular/build 22.2.1 and 22.3.0-next.0
>=6.0 <6.1
typescript-eslint 8.71.0
>=4.8.4 <6.1.0
@storybook/angular 10.6.1
^4.9 || ^5 || ^6
TS 7.0 ships no programmatic API (planned for 7.1), and Angular's compiler needs it. angular/angular#69704 (widen to TS 7) was closed not planned; Angular's direction is its own Rust/oxc compiler.
an Angular release widens the compiler-cli TS peer range
typescript-eslint supports TS 7
Storybook Angular supports it
Notes for whoever picks this up
TS 7 defaults change to strict: true, module: esnext, types: [], noUncheckedSideEffectImports: true; TS 6 deprecations become hard errors. We set strict: false, types and rootDir explicitly, so most defaults don't bite. The baseUrl prep ticket can land now. Optional spike: run tsgo side-by-side (@typescript/native) for the non-Angular parts of typecheck:all.

## Why
TypeScript **7.0.2** is out: the Go-native compiler (8-12x faster full builds, parallel checking). We're on 6.0.3. It's **blocked**:
| Package | TS peer range |
|---|---|
| `@angular/compiler-cli` / `@angular/build` 22.2.1 and 22.3.0-next.0 | `>=6.0 <6.1` |
| `typescript-eslint` 8.71.0 | `>=4.8.4 <6.1.0` |
| `@storybook/angular` 10.6.1 | `^4.9 \|\| ^5 \|\| ^6` |
TS 7.0 ships **no programmatic API** (planned for 7.1), and Angular's compiler needs it. angular/angular#69704 (widen to TS 7) was closed *not planned*; Angular's direction is its own Rust/oxc compiler.

TS 7 defaults change to `strict: true`, `module: esnext`, `types: []`, `noUncheckedSideEffectImports: true`; TS 6 deprecations become hard errors. We set `strict: false`, `types` and `rootDir` explicitly, so most defaults don't bite. The `baseUrl` prep ticket can land now.
